Helping Active Kids Overcome Osgood Schlatter
When knee pain starts getting in the way of sport, it can be frustrating for both children and parents.
At The Osgood Schlatter Centre, we provide comprehensive assessments and personalised treatment plans designed specifically for children and teenagers with Osgood Schlatter, helping families understand why symptoms have developed and how to safely return to the activities they love.
Watching your child miss the sport they love is frustrating.
For many active children, Osgood Schlatter doesn't just affect their knee.
It can mean sitting out training, missing games, losing confidence and becoming worried that every run, jump or kick will make things worse.
As parents, it can be difficult knowing what to do next.
Should they keep playing?
Should they stop completely?
Will they make it worse?
Do they need scans?
Will it simply settle with time?
At The Osgood Schlatter Centre, our role is to help answer those questions through a comprehensive assessment and an individual management plan tailored to your child.
What Is Osgood Schlatter?
Osgood Schlatter is one of the most common causes of knee pain in active children and teenagers.
It occurs where the patellar tendon attaches to the growth plate just below the kneecap.
During periods of rapid growth, repeated running, jumping and changes of direction can place increased stress on this area, leading to pain, tenderness and swelling.
Although Osgood Schlatter often improves as children finish growing, symptoms can significantly impact participation in sport during the adolescent years.
Understanding why your child is experiencing symptoms is the first step towards developing an appropriate management plan.

Introducing Solemaids.
Most heel inserts are designed to cushion the heel.
Solemaids were designed with a completely different philosophy.
Using an innovative floating heel design developed in Denmark, Solemaids are designed to remove contact beneath the painful part of the heel.
Rather than simply adding more cushioning...
the goal is to rest the heel, not the child.

Why parents find Solemaids so different.
Most parents tell us they've never seen anything quite like them.
That's because Solemaids don't simply add more cushioning.
Their unique floating heel design is intended to work in a completely different way.
Rather than asking,
"How do we cushion the painful area?"
The question becomes,
"How do we remove pressure completely from the painful area?"
It's a different philosophy, shown clearly in the images above.
And for many parents, that's exactly why they book a Parent Clarity Call.
They understand that we can rest the heel, not the child.
Why families trust The Severs Centre.

Rest the heel. Not the child.
